Import your clients into TrackingTime

Roles: Administrators | Free Feature

To import your clients into TrackingTime please follow these steps below.

How to batch import clients:

  1. Click on the "Settings" menu button in the top right corner of the screen and select "Data Import" in the left column.

  2. Select "Import clients"

  3. Copy and paste your client list or upload a CSV file from your computer.

  4. Once you have imported your timesheet, you'll need to match the columns to your spreadsheet.

  5. Once the setup is complete and there are no errors, click on "Import".

  6. Finish by clicking on "Confirm".

⚠️ Make sure there is no missing or invalid information. The app will show you issues in red.

Add extra client information

The Import Clients page will only have the Client Name column available, like shown below. This is the only mandatory column.

If you need to asociate more information to your clients, then you'll need to add more columns to the import page. The only way to add columns, is to create them as custom fields first. The import page will display as columns any custom fields that were previously created on a Client level.

How to create a Custom Field on a Client level:

  1. Select the Client level and click on Add Client Field.

  2. Name your custom field (your column) and choose the type of response display you want to assign it.

  3. All done! Go back to the Import page and you'll be able to see the custom fields as columns when importing the data.

⚠️ Make sure the file you import has the same column names as the custom fields you've created.

📝 We'll look in your account for all clients and information specified in your CSV file. If the information already exists, we will not duplicate it.

Supported Date Formats

We'll try to automatically identify the date format of your file. But you can also select the correct one in the Settings panel displayed on the to right corner of the screen.

The following date formats are supported:

  • MM/DD/YYYY (e.g. 04/25/2016 for April, 25 2016)

  • DD/MM/YYYY (e.g. 25/04/2016 for April, 25 2016)

📝 Start and end dates must include the full date in one of those formats.
